How We Serve
At Cornerstone Christian Reformed Church, we are dedicated to nurturing faith and offering Christ-centered care for every stage of life. Whether you want to connect your kids with a fun Sunday school program or find professional, confidential counselling support, we are here to walk alongside you.
Children's Ministry: Cornerstone Kids
We love having children in our worship service! Children join us for the opening portion of the service and are then invited to our Sunday School program down the hallway during the sermon. Designed for children ages 3 through grade 3, this program helps them engage with Bible stories in an age-appropriate way. Children are also always welcome to remain in the sanctuary for the entire service if they prefer.
Our Children in Worship program pauses for the summer months, but we love keeping our young ones engaged! We provide special children’s bulletins and activity materials at the back of the sanctuary to help your children actively participate in and enjoy the main worship service.
To ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all children, every one of our volunteers has completed a comprehensive Vulnerable Sector Check.
Professional Counselling Services
Cornerstone CRC offers all members and regular attenders access to free professional Christian counselling through Shalem Mental Health Network’s Congregational Assistance Plan (CAP).
To inquire about this program or book an appointment, please contact Shalem at 1-866-377-0041 or email [email protected]. When reaching out, mention that you are a member of Cornerstone CRC to access the CAP program. A caring intake staff member will guide you through a few brief questions regarding your counselling needs and your first appointment with the appropriate CAP counsellor/therapist will be scheduled.
The CAP program provides confidential counselling that includes individual, couple, family and group counselling services.
Counselling Services FAQ
What is the cost for the CAP counselling services?
As a member of Cornerstone CRC, the cost of the counselling sessions are completely covered. There is no cost for the member utilizing this program.
How many counselling sessions do I get under the CAP program?
The CAP program covers six counselling sessions.
What if I need more than six sessions?
Should you need more than six sessions and face financial or insurance barriers to continuing your care, you can choose from two supportive options:
- Discuss your needs with your therapist: Shalem offers a dedicated assistance program designed specifically for individuals who require ongoing care but face financial barriers.
- Consult the Cornerstone Leadership Team: Reach out to a church leader to explore financial assistance options through the diaconate fund.
If I use the CAP program, does the church know about it?
The church only receives reports about the number of times the CAP program has been used by members of the congregation. No information about who has used the program or for what reason is shared with the church.
Are the counselling sessions received through CAP confidential?
Yes, no information will be shared with anyone without written consent. However, all professional counselling services, including Shalem, require the obligation for the therapist to release information in the following special circumstances:
- When there is an imminent threat of physical harm to yourself or others, and the therapist’s intervention could prevent it.
- If a child under 16 is reported to be at possible risk of harm and may be in need of protection.
- If the counselling information is subpoenaed by a court of law.
